Kinshasa, DRC – The streets of Kinshasa witnessed a powerful display of military readiness on Saturday as 8,000 soldiers from the Republican Guard (GR) conducted an endurance march through the city’s main arteries. The exercise, which started at the Kinshasa International Fair (FIKIN), saw pedestrian, motorized, and floating units deploying across four routes before regrouping at Camp Tshatshi.
Following the march, Major General Kabi Ephraim, Commander of the Republican Guard, addressed the troops, emphasizing their core mission; Securing the President of the Republic, his family, and official guests, Supporting the Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) in defending territorial integrity, and Assisting the National Police in maintaining order.
He also underscored the importance of military discipline, urging troops to stay focused and committed to their duties.
“Do not give in to acts of demoralization. Strengthen cohesion and love for one another. Stand in solidarity with our comrades fighting in the East,” said Major General Kabi, acknowledging the challenges faced by troops on the front lines.
This third endurance march, following similar exercises in 2023 and 2024, was designed not only to enhance military preparedness but also to reassure citizens that the FARDC remains vigilant and ready to protect the country’s sovereignty.
The display of military strength comes at a crucial time as the DRC continues to confront security threats, particularly in the eastern region, where armed conflicts persist.
For Kinshasa residents, the march served as a visible reminder of the army’s commitment to national security and its readiness to defend the Democratic Republic of Congo against any threats.
